Hiking Trails

Cambria has numerous scenic and picturesque trails for hiking, some along the ocean, some among the hills and some in the forest. It is a magical strectch of land with breathtaking views. Watch the seals, dolphins, sea otters, surfers, birds, sunsets and listen to the crashing of the waves. There is always something to see.

Moonstone Beach Boardwalk

Distance-2.5 miles round trip

Trailhead Location-Turn west on Windsor Boulevard off of Highway 1 and make an immediate right on Moonstone Dr. and go just past the first building on the left, the Hotel El Colibri and park in the lot next to it.

A easy walk on a boardwalk walking along the shoreline with beautiful views of the beach.

Bluff South Trail

Trailhead Location- turn west on Ardath Dr off of Highway 1 and drive 1.2 miles-turn right onto Drake St. for 0.4 miles-turn right onto Windsor Blvd. for 0.2 miles to the end of the street and the trailhead.

Fiscilini Ranch is a 436 acre preserve near the center of Cambria with many trails on it. This trail runs parallel to the bluffs aong the ocean.

Santa Rosa Creek Trail West

Distance-2 miles round trip

Trailhead Location-Turn west off Highway 1 onto Windsor Blvd and parking in the pullout on the left just before Heath Lane.

The Santa Rosa Creek Trail begins by the Windsor Bridge and goes along a lush corridor along the creek into the 436 acre Fiscilini Ranch Preserve.

Santa Rosa Creek Trail East

Distance-2 mile round trip

Hiking Difficulty-easy

Trailhead Location-On Main St. between the Bluebird Motel at 1880 Main St. and Black Cat Restaurant.

This trail starts at the east side of Fiscilini Ranch off of Main St. and crosses a little bridge

Ridge Trail North

Distance-2 mile loop

Hiking Difficulty-easy

Trailhead Location-From Highway 1 turn west onto Windsor Blvd. for 0.7 miles- turn left onto Huntington Rd. for 0.3 miles to the trailhead next to 576 Huntington on the right through the metal gate. (no sign) Park along the street.

Take Ridge Trail to Forest Loop Trail which loops back to Ridge Trail and take Ridge trail back to the trailhead.The trail goes through the Fiscilini ranch with wooded pine trees and beautiful views .

Ridge Trail South

Trailhead Location-From Highway 1 turn west onto Ardath Dr. for 0.9 miles- turn left onto Trenton Ave. for 0.2 miles and the trailhead is across the street from 2668 Trenton Ave. No trailhead sign. 

The trail goes through the Fiscilini ranch with wooded pine trees and beautiful views .

Forest Trail Loop

Distance-1 mile loop

Trailhead Location-From Highway 1 turn west on Ardath Dr. for 1.1 miles-turn right onto Tipton Rd. for 0.2 miles to the end of the road and the trailhead.

Part of the Fiscilini Ranch Preserve the trail takes you thru the woods for a loop trail.

Wallridge Trail

Distance-.75 miles round trip

Trailhead Location-From Highway 1 take Windsor Blvd. west for 0.9 miles-make a U-turn at Murray Pl.-turn right onto Wallbridge Dr. to the trailhead at the end.

The trail is on the 436 acre Fiscilini Ranch preserve. There are many trails on the preserve and you can extend this hike by taking Wallbridge trail to Terrace trail to Meander trail to Forest Loop trail which will connect you back to Wallbridge trail for a 2 mile loop.

Fern Canyon Trail

Distance-1.5 miles round trip

Trailhead Location-going north on Highway 1 turn left on Ardath Dr. for 0.6 miles-turn right on Camborne Place, trail is at the end of the road.

The trail follows a stream lined with ferns and in a pine forest.

Strawberry Canyon Trail

Distance-.8 mile loop

Hiking Difficulty-easy

Dogs-allowed

Trailhead Location-From Highway 1 going north turn left on Burton Dr. for 0.8 miles to Kay St. (trail by the intersection)

The trail is on the right, directly across from Kay St., the sign is hard to see. Hike through a lush forest.

Berry Trail

Trailhead Location-going north on Highway 1 turn right onto Burton Dr. for 0.3 miles-turn left onto Patterson Pl. for 0.1 miles (Patterson Pl. turns into Rogers Dr.) turn right onto Pine St. to the trailhead at the end of the street.

Part of Fiscilini Ranch this trail is an unimproved trail that can be steep and is popular with mountain bikers.

 

Burton Drive Trail

Trailhead Location-going north on Higway 1 turn right onto Burton Dr. for 0.5 miles to the intersection of Burton Dr. and Eton Rd.

The trail starts at the Cambria Nursery to the left and parallels Burton Dr.

Marine Terrace South Trail

Trailhead Location-going north on Highway 1 turn left onto Ardath Dr. for 1.2 miles-turn right onto Drake St. for 0.3 miles-turn right onto Marlborough Lane for 0.2 miles to the end of the road to the trailhead.

Marine Terrace Trail parallels the Bluff Trail but is more inland. You can take the Marine Terrace Trail one way and come back on Bluffs trail.

Marine Terrace North Trail

Trailhead Location-Turn left on Windsor Dr. off of Highway 1 and go 1.1 miles to the  end of the road to the trailhead.

Part of the Fiscilini Ranch you can take this trail one way and come back on the Bluffs Trail that parallels the trail along the bluffs.

Bluffs North Trail

Trailhead Location-Turn left on Windsor Dr. off of Highway 1 and go 1.1 miles to the end of the road to the trailhead.

The Bluffs Trail is part of the Fiscilini Ranch and goes along the bluffs of the coast. A good hike is to take the Bluffs Trail one way and return on the Marine Terrace Trail that parallels the trail inland.
